57 "This Nigga On Twitta" - Silky MothaFuccin' Slim

Congrats to for hosting his first camp in his community! Way to give back!
Social Media Is Primarily Used To Create An Image For Oneself And Build A Reputation. For Instance, How Is Jarod 'Giving Back' When He Charges $100 For Each Player He Coaches*? That's Not Giving Back. That's Taking From. He's Taking $1,000s From Poor, Misguided, Impressionable Kids Then Heading Back To Oregon With Those $1,000s. So, Not Only Does He Benefit Monetarily, Thanks To Social Media, He Benefits Socially (His Do-Gooder Image** Is Conceived).

*He Likely Spent Little Time With Each Player And Whatever He May Have Taught Them Likely Won't Stick With Them, So He'll Have Benefitted More Than They.
I Still Don't See Any Coaching, i.e. 'Paying Forward' Taking Place. Where Is All Of The 'Giving Back' And 'Paying Forward' That Everybody's Speaking Of.

"Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram..provide signal distribution at scale. Want to increase the number of people who can see your sneakers? Just take a photo and post it..likes and comments helps you to quantify how successful your signal distribution has been"
There are several indicators that suggest that giving to charity isn’t really about improving the well-being of others: The lack of effective altruism demonstrates that we don’t care much about the actual outcome of our donations and studies show that our charitable behavior is heavily driven by visibility (hardly any donations are anonymous), peer pressure (95% of donations are solicited) and mating motives (donations are higher and more likely when observed by a member of the opposite sex). Charity is about appearing generous rather than actually doing good.

Unselfish behavior boosted the impression of physical beauty, even more so than appearing funny or intelligent.

"Losing a good reputation can be easier than gaining it."
Why do humans help – to actually do good or to simply appear good? Using depth sensor imaging technology, we find evidence for an interesting developmental shift: 2-year-olds are ‘pure’ helpers, but 5-year-olds help in order to gain a good reputation. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.111 1/🧵

"When asked why we do the things we do, we rarely say, 'It's because of status'...It can be distasteful to think of it as any kind of motivating force...To admit to being motivated by improving our rank is to risk making others think less of us" amzn.to/3DaUFxH
