66 Waiting Around He's A Waste - Fifty One Fifty G00K

I've Wasted Over 20 Years Of My Life Doing Absolutely Nothing Partly Because Of Genetic Reasons (A Personality Type Inclined To Social Anxiety, Low Self-Esteem, Narcissism, And Ego; However Contradicting These Traits Are) And Partly Because Of Environmental Factors (Being Spoiled, Never Having To Work, Not Having To Do What Those People Do). So Here I Am At Age 45 Wasting Away (I Was Smarter, Better Looking, From A Higher Socioeconomic Background, Etc. Than Most, But I've Wasted All Of That).
"people who have fallen short of their expectations for themselves are..less happy than people who have exceeded such expectations, even if their wealth is the same..people evaluate their conditions more by recent changes they have experienced than by their total value positions"

"certain psychological traits lined up with philosophical beliefs...Lower life satisfaction and depression were associated with not believing in free will...people who don’t believe in free will have more negative mental health."

"higher educational attainments reduce job satisfaction..better perceived opportunities may depress life satisfaction if they raise aspirations above real life chances..socioeconomic aspirations may rise faster w/ schooling than real life opportunities do" onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11

I NEVER REACHED MY POTENTIAL. READ BELOW.
That doesn't mean that Dick denies the importance of genes and individual differences that are genetically based. He merely appreciates the fact that all people are like growing plants that interact with their environment, however much their genes influence the rules of engagement. Contrast the growth metaphor with the metaphor of The Bell Curvewhich is that each person is born a certain way, like a lead soldier, and remains in the same position for the rest of his or her life.
Each of us is a growing organism with complex rules of engagement for interacting with our environment. The rules of engagement are strongly influenced by the particular hand of genes that we are dealt, making us unique coming out of the starting gate. Then the rules of engagement change on the basis of experience, making us doubly unique. We don't even remotely understand our own rules of engagement, which take place largely beneath conscious awareness. Science doesn't understand our rules of engagement, either, or rather has barely started to ask the right questions. Given such profound ignorance, WE OFTEN OPERATE FAR BELOW OUR POTENTIAL! [the rules of engagement Mr. Sloan is speaking of is the way our
genes interact with our environment to create our experiences. so how we experience the world. how we think, react, and behave in the world.]

When comparing individuals, the effect of IQ differences is often small. A large number of personality attributes, many of which are unrelated to IQ, affect a person’s ability to succeed in life. For that reason, an individual’s IQ score is merely a probability of future success, not a prediction from a crystal ball. For example, a person’s IQ affects his likelihood of completing college, but some college graduates are not very smart. Betting that an individual person with an IQ of 100 will complete more years of schooling than a person with an IQ of 95 is a risky gamble. The less intelligent person may be a very hard worker, while the smarter person could be lazy and unmotivatedHowever, if presented with two groups of 100 random Americans, one group with average IQ 95, the other group at 100, it is a virtual certainty that the smarter group will have higher educational attainment. In this way, IQ scores can be thought of as individual probabilities that aggregate into certainties in large groups. - Jason Richwine

"Ultimately he was left with racist allies whom 'no moral, thinking soul would ever be associated with.' Even Shockley's own children became estranged - not surprising, considering that he publicly announced they had 'regressed' from his own intelligence because of their mother's inferior standing. " - Barbara Oakley Ph.D.
